like a romantic or chivalrous gesture. However, consider
how much money most Americans spend on gas--some estimates
put this dollar amount at almost $100 a month. If you
can do something to lighten the load on your favorite

don't want to issue credit cards or wads of cash to

card, which acts like a normal credit card but entitles
you to discounts on gas purchases and gets you preferred
customer status. Some gas companies even cross promote,
enabling customers to acquire air miles with their purchases
(for instance).
Finally, using a gas card instead of a regular credit
card or cash allows you to keep track of your fuel budget
more efficiently. You can refill your gas card automatically
via other accounts, as well. This feature is great in
that it provides insurance against late-night gas emergencies.
