Compare to other high yield savings and checking accounts in your area. Can you earn more interest when you open up a Citi Checking and ESavings Account or an HSBC account?
My recommendation for those interested in Everbank®:
- Open
an EverBank® account and take advantage of the 2.25% Interest checking for the promotional period
of 3 months
- After 3 months you may consider moving the money to a CD or another account for a higher rate.
- Keep your Everbank account open with a minimum balance
of $1500 if you wish to keep earning interest on a
small amount of liquid money. Read more about their Freenet checking solution for personal banking.
Things that I did not like with an EverBank® checking
account were that the 6.01% interest went down to a lower rate
if you only had under $10,000 in your account after
the promotional period. Although, 5.01% stayed up in
the 3.55% range if you have over $100,000 in your checking
but there are higher rates. There is a minimum balance
of $1,500 which is not all that much compared to the
minimums you get with Bank of America and the bigger
banks with interest checking accounts. Finally, my biggest
problem with this bank is the fact you have a limit on
your daily bill pay amounts.
The positives definitely outweigh the negatives with
EverBank®. Coming soon they will have a new enhancement
where you can transfer money between outside bank accounts.
They also pay a huge sum of interest for the first three
months, have great customer service by being more flexible
than some banks like ING Direct, and offer World currency
offerings. This is a bank that is easy to make transfers
to a ING Direct or Virtual
Bank account, or even online Emigrant
Direct accounts
Everbank® Home Deposit Available Soon?
"Easy as 1,2,3" is what I have to say about the new home deposit feature I tried out on the banks website today. It may not be open to all customers yet. You have to fill out a form to be approved but it is worth a try if you would rather make bank deposits by scanner.
Everbank acquires Florida Bank
EverBank® acquired all the deposits, substantially all of the assets of the Bank of Florida–Southwest, Bank of Florida–Southeast and Bank of Florida–Tampa Bay (collectively "Bank of Florida") from the FDIC.
Though the economic environment has devastated many financial organizations, their proven formula of intelligent banking products combined with disciplined lending practices has not only secured EverBank's strength and stability—it has positioned the bank to grow to $11.5 billion in assets and $8.9 billion in deposits.
Everbank® to Launch New Website
After years of one of the worst banking websites online they are finally taking in customer advice to unfold a site with easier navigation and better security. EverBank® certainly needed better navigation more than anything along with greater convenience. The new everbank.com which will launch soon will also make it easier to transfer money, which you currently cannot do. Research, Planning, and Customer Service will be integrated in the new design as well. Everbank is asking for feedback on their new site by emailing them at website(@)everbank.com. The online bank has not yet said when the redesign will come out but I am sure it will be sometime next month.
