Checks in the Mail
I got this check in the mail for $20 should I sign it and
cash it?
This is a common question we get form people who get these
programs from their credit card companies where they send
you a check for $2.50, 5.00, 10.00, or some small amount then
they lure you into some 1 month to 3 month trial. These offers
will con you into cashing the check for the fast cash but
then when you forget to cancel your service you signed up
for within the alloted time period then your charge card is
subjected to a fee of sometimes 49.99 to 79.99. Ouch! So that
free check you cashed was nothing compared to the nasty charge
you just got on your credit card statement when you forgot
to cancel this service. I would keep away from cashing any
free checks that come in my mailbox just for the fact that
unless I am interested in the service I do not want to waste
my time trying to cancel it just for that free amount of money.
Sometimes time is more important.
